No One Can Imagine My Situation

This project is my attempt at documenting human traces left within the pages of self-help books at the Providence Public Library.

The artifacts I found ranged from margin annotations to filled out forms to makeshift bookmarks.

Going through the entire section I came to realize that these artifacts were intriguing because of the incomplete stories they told. The joy in finding these scraps comes from the process that ensues after the initial discovery. Intuitively, we imagine who they belong to and their motives.

After collecting and archiving these found pieces, I began an editing process of subtraction and addition. Both have the intended effect of amplifying the trapped voices as well as creating a directed viewing of each artifact.
